My 77 Palm Beach has a Thermasan unit on it, as it was installed prior
to my purchase. My first exhaust leak was in the left manifold pipe
just before the pipe connected to the left muffler. That is where the
Thermasan discharge entered the exhaust system. The pipe had rusted out
at that point.
The discharge waste water from the Thermasan enters the exhaust thru a
1/4"+-, tube that is inserted into a hole (burned or drilled) in the
left manifold pipe, just before it connects to the muffler. It had a
sheet metal collar attached to the tube that fits around the manifold
pipe, and was secured with airplane clamps. When I removed the collar,
I found the manifold pipe had disintegrated at that point with a hole
under the collar of approx. 2"+ in diameter..
I did use the unit up until I discovered the exhaust leak, and I really
can't say it did or did not work as intended. It did operate when I
turned the switch on, and after a period of time it did indicated that
the action was completed.
Upon repair of the exhaust system, I DID NOT reinstall the discharge
tube into the exhaust, and DID DISCONNECT the electric's so as to not
accidentally activate the Thermasan system.
