Helping a co-worker with another project and we found this company:

They claim any decal, any car, any year.

Got our stuff for the Blazer, (the decal "feathers") but he didn't ask about
the GMC.

Passing this along for those who might want that concours d'elegance
'original' look and feel. You'll have to make the call if you need more
info.

Anyone know where you can get the names (Kingsley, Palm Beach, etc.) in
letters? Does anyone have the true type (or adobe) fonts that GM used? Or
were these done by hand?

Cinnabar has all the decals? Do they have the stripes too?

I would like to put new stripes and decals on my '76 Palm Beach. I want to restore it to the look it had when new. I know most people want to make the coaches look like they were made in the 90s. If I restored
the exterior, I won't have to get rid of the green plaid Herculon and green shag carpeting.

The paint is still in good shape, it's just the stripes and decals that have faded with age. All if my other good stuff (boat, airplane, tractor & #1 son) were made in the 70's.

Good idea. Hadn't thought of that. We send our stuff to the sign guy on a
disk all the time, so I guess that was so obvious I overlooked it. We even
have them made out of reflective material for safety.

The Kingsley script is so faded that I'll have to touch them up a little
bit, but I'll take a digital pix to my sign guy and see what he can do.

I'm thinking of changing colors from "Santa Fe Tan" to "Sunset Gold
Metallic" or "Champagne" with black stripes. I'd like to keep the name, even
if the color changes. Maybe I'll call it "Greenburg Gold" for luck and a
long, high mileage life.

If I were going to repaint my GMC I would really consider the scheme that
paterson has on their web site. I like the way the windows are accented.
I'm going to keep the JPG file for future reference.

Just a word of caution, most sign shops, at least in my area use 3.4 - 4 mil
vinyl. It is ok for signs but is not recomended for permanent use on vehicles.
Specify 2 mil High Performance vinyl. It is more resistant to fading and
shrinking.
I would recomend you look for a shop that specializes in vehicle graphics and
lettering.
They do this kind of thing everyday.

I'm not sure if they have the stripes too but you can get any marine =
graphics or truck graphic company to duplicate the original stripes. I =
am going a hybrid method as I am replacing the delightful "mustard and =
gold" eleganza original striping with black and gold, and then =
re-installing the original "Eleganza" letter decals. The old decals are =
simple (yet time consuming) to remove with a heat gun and I am having =
mine re-striped in black-cost is approximately $80.00 for the striping =
material (colors might run more $$) and $120.00 for installation.

Is there an aftermarket material for vehicles something like that thick
molded fake-rubber-like-stuff, that comes on some Jeep Grand Cherokees?

Or can you think of an adaptation that might work something like the
following:

I'm thinking of a rubberery substance that would be poured into a mold...
cured, and then applied to the side of a GMC like a raised emblem with a
thickness of about 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Something that would not detach
after some weather action.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you looking to replace the Side
Moulding ?
A very close replacement is available from 3M . I believe the code is T35 32
00 The 32
is roll lenth and 00 is for the Black & Chrome combination.
I am not aware of a product that can be moulded and attatched to the sides.

Hi Gary,

I have been in the vehicle graphics business for almost 19 years. The original GMC
stripes (at least the ones I have seen) used a process such as silk screening to add
the highlight stripe to the base color. When I got my Palm Beach the stripe had been
replaced by the previous owner . The base color is layed down first and the second
color is layed on top afterward. This is usually acceptable to most persons and likely
cheaper than the original meathod.
I 'm not set up to screen printing but can do smaller decals using a full color
thermal resin
printing process. I f there is a need for these type of decals not already available,
let me know what is needed and I will look into reproducing them.

I would like to buy the stripes that go on my Eleganza II 1977. They are brown and have
come off in the ends. If someone could make new ones, I would be happy and would not
have to paint the coach.
