Just a comment. I replaced every replaceable steering /suspension component
(except Torque bars and stabilizer bar) as well as wheel bearings in an effort to
tighten up steering. The front end was aligned. This helped but only after
replacing the steering box was I satisfied with steering.

The old steering was good exercise, but 100 miles was a days work; even after
the front end rebuild.

Did I need a new steering box? You betcha!!

At NAPAs price, you can't afford not to change it if everything else is OK. It's
a one (maybe two) hour job for a qualified mechanic. For an amateur wrench, an
afternoon should suffice.

My humble opinion---------
