I think that this is a regional issue. Here on the Central Coast of Calfornia several of the larger school districts run 16.5s
on the school busses. I found that as a result if I selected the same tires as used on the busses, I could get a very good
tire pretty inexpensively. The issue for me was the relatively long waits that I might be in for in some parts of the country
that I checked. Admittedly the chances of losing a tire while traveling are not that great (if they're new etc). But since we
often have client obligations that require me to be at a particular place at a specific time, I wanted the added perceived
flexibility that 16" rims gave us.
