Jeff, I made my own battery shelf when the old one started to waste away
from eons of acid erosion. I got the patter from Alex Sirum so the shelf
would follow the body contour. I used 3/4" marine plywood, painted on
both sides and made hold downs. I have only the strating batter up front
so I mounted a industrial tub that holds exactly12 qts of motor oil.

Yep, 12 1 quart plastic bottles. Apparently the footprint of the tub I
used is identical to that of a case of oil.

Jeff,

This was the original factory battery placement for '73 and '74(iirc)
Motorhomes and all Transmodes. Final battery placement in the Transmodes
was often altered by the company(or individual) that finished the coach. Of
course, any number of arrangements are possible after more than two decades
of PO's.

You might could find an original battery tray off a salvage coach, but
there's nothing special about it. Just a frame of steel angle with a
stiffener down the center and a couple braces down to the frame. A local
welder could put one together in an hour easy.

Ragusa Makes battery pans. These are not the sliding ones. We use Daren
for those ;>)
