Stated Value Insurance

I thought I would share with the group the positive experience I had today
with RV Alliance Insurance. When we purchased our GMC in Sept I insured it
with my local agent, indicating that I wanted a "stated value" policy as we
were in the process of doing a substantial redo. They initially placed us
with Frankenmuth Insurance Co. then a month later switched us to Auto Owners
Ins. which was supposed to have a better policy. We only had comp coverage
on the rig while it was at Buskirk. Much to my surprise, when I called to
place the full coverage on the coach, I was told "that after all your
motorhome is a 1978 and that would be taken into consideration in the
settlement of any potential claim". I obviously became uncomfortable with
what I was hearing and decided to follow-up with RV Alliance Ins. that I
have read about here on the gmcnet.
Thanks to Gene and his web site, I was able to quickly find the RV Alliance
phone number and make contact with them this morning. My coach now is fully
covered for an agreed upon amount which I feel gives us more than adequate
coverage should we every have to use it. The lady I spoke with new her stuff
and more importantly new about the classic GMCs. To sum up, let me say that
I wish I would have followed the insurance advice, given many times here on
the net. It would have saved me not only $$$ but a lot of wasted hassle.
Special thanks to Gene and the info on his web site. It was really helpful.

David,

Do you recall the name of the agent you spoke with at RVAA? I was
really disappointed with the lack of GMC knowledge on the part of the
agent I spoke with there.
