I hope this is a Chev vs Ford thing. So far I am satisfied with
my units (Statpower TC40 and ProWatt 800).

I found out that the reason my fan kept running, when I thought it
should be off was because I had disconnected (via a switch)
the AC power to my original refrigerator. I did that to keep
the relay from chattering. The relay is supposed to automatically
switch between AC and DC. However in my case it chatters
most of the time when I'm connected to shore power. When the
fridge is on DC it draws something like 20 amps. That, when
coupled with lights etc. makes the fan run.

Now that I figured that out, the fan runs only when it should.

Now if I had paid full retail for my units (rather then get them
refurbished from StatPower) I might be worried.

I have used small (100 watt to 300 watt) Stat power
12 Volt to 120 Volt inverters for years and have
looked at the larger capacity ones as well.

I suspect the problem referred to is relatd to the "internal fuse"

The Stat Power inverter uses an internal fuse that will pop should
the inverter be asked to produce more then the rated output

Stat Power advises that this is not user serviceable
(only serviceable by returning the inverter to the factory).

These small inverters sometimes end up on the shelf
(I speak from personal experience) rather than shipped
back to Burnaby. I have not check out the economics of
shipping back for service $30.00 - $100.00 inverters

I recently purchased the refurbished 40 Amp battery charger and
don't recall any similar warnings in the manual for it.

On page 3 of the Statpower Owner's Manual: The TRUECHARGE'S internal fuse
will open if the battery is accidentally connected with reversed polarity. A
short circuit on the output of the TRUECHARGE 20/40 will result in a fuse
opening or charger shutdown due to control circuitry.

On page 28: CAUTION - RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK The TRUECHARGE 20/40
contains no user serviceable components.

Zapped again!!!!!!!!

Edgar & Gary
I have a True Charge 40 that I got this spring when the price was still
a $145 US.
The first thing that I did was to put an external fuse holder in the
unit and move the fuse off the circuit board to where I could get at it.
I blew the fuse during checkout just before we went to Myrtle Beach. I
replace the fuse in about 1 minute and was powered again. I have always
felt that a fuse is a serviceable item.
