Paul,
is it a 3 wire? If so, any part number?

(if 2 wire it's the same as I have now)

Thanks

Heinz:

It's two wire. I included the part number below.

Thanks to all for the help.

Ended up finding one at United Speedometer & Instruments in Riverside, CA.
Hope it'll work.

Gave up locally after a few "you want what?"

You do have a electronic Speedometer?
Is your new Speed Sensor a feed thru or does it terminate on top of
your Speedometer sensor. How many pulses?
If possible can you send a picture of the set up you use for the
combination of both mounted on your trany?
What is the part # for the sensor?
Thank you

Herm,

I have an electronic speedo as part of the digital dash.

The sensor for it is a terminating sensor, i.e. at the end of the cable.

Basically the speedometer head cable was disconnected from the
transducer/cruise control and the electronic sensor installed instead.

Not sure on the number of pulses on that one as it came as part of the dash
package.

I also had an inline one installed ahead of the cruise control that was used
for the Howell EFI that I had before the Rance EFI.
It was a 4 pulse. As both of them are only 2-wire I suspect they are a sine
wave generator or reed type.
How connected: Cable connected to tranny as original and on the other end
the inline which then connected to the transducer. The speedo sensor is
connected on the output side of the cruise transducer instead of the cable
that used to go to speedometer itself.

Too late for picture as I took the stuff apart as sample when I went looking
locally but as soon as I have it back together I'll take some. Should be in
on monday.

The AV-10 Engine Monitor needs a hall-effect type which gets connected to
power and then has a signal lead goint to the AV-10. I ordered a 4 pulse
from United Speedometer. It's their UTE-110-SO. It's 7/8" in and out. I'm
not sure it the connection at the tranny is 7/8" or smaller. If 7/8" then
I'm going to try and put the sensor right at the tranny. If not, the output
side of the cruise transducer is 7/8th.

Confused? I think I confused myself writing it :-)
Hopefully I understood the question and answered it reasonable.

United Speedometer also has a closed one listed (UTE 110-SC)

Judging by a page of their catalog I have they call the Speedometer Sending
Units "Hall effect" and Cruise Control are "Reed Relays" and they also have
combo units. Open (inline) and closed (end-of-wire) are listed.

Doing that, but when I have it set so that I can read it I loose map info,
i.e. screen not big enough, and it's not always accurate enough. Usually
with 1-3 miles and many times right on. The odd time not enough satelites to
get the accuracy and then there's the error the government builds in :-)

One reason for monitoring speed via the AV-10 is so that I get a speed
reference for all the other stuff.
I'm sort of hoping that speed and rpm may tell me something about tranny
(converter) slipage over time and hence impending failure before it happens.

Got the sensor today and it fits great right at the tranny. 7/8" in and out.

My speedo cable setup is now: Tranny --> 7/8 in/out sensor (hall
effect) ---> cable ---> cruise control transducer in ---> cruise transducer
out --> sensor (terminating type) for digital dash speedo. I suspect that
one is a reed type.

Don't know if it works yet :-) but at least it all fit well.

But you still have the out house. Can't enter the 20th century completely
yet.

Here's the scoop on the Oregon Motorhome. Glenn did a pretty thorough job
looking at it. Talked to him for about an hour at noon. It's an early '74,
26' and in pretty good shape. Fairly new rebuilt engine, tranny, and final
drive. Good air bags but he didn't check the brake lines. Figure they
would need replacing anyhow just to be safe. Onan started and ran good.
The engine purred like a kitten, he said. Looked and sounded very good for
it's age. Said the paint job was good with no signs of wrecks. Had a
little smoke on drivers windshield but no problem. Passenger side is
American made and figured it was relatively new. Had a little rust on
bumpers. Frame looked solid with just small spots of rust. Thought it no
problem. His wife liked the interior. Said she could be happy living in it
now. Weird thing, the two front seats are from a locomotive, yes, a train.
Air ride and all. They are a bit narrow he said, but effective. Flooring
is shag carpet and parquet flooring. Bath has ceramic tile, the small ones.
Glenn said it gave him a good 1st impression upon opening the door. Had no
signs of leakage and top was clean without gobs of silliputty around every
opening. Said he may negotiate down.

Will probably have Glenn write more about it cause I definitely had the ear
problem with the phone call. Today has been a real treat for me with your
call and then talking to he and his wife. Only real drawback for me is the
wet bath. Don't think my co-pilot would go for it. Who knows?

I do not have a cable to my speedo but I need to find a 8 pulse sensor
to go on my transmission speedo pulser without the feed thru for a
cable.Did you run across this info in your search?
