Herm,
I have an electronic speedo as part of the digital dash.
The sensor for it is a terminating sensor, i.e. at the end of the cable.
Basically the speedometer head cable was disconnected from the
transducer/cruise control and the electronic sensor installed instead.
Not sure on the number of pulses on that one as it came as part of the dash
package.
I also had an inline one installed ahead of the cruise control that was used
for the Howell EFI that I had before the Rance EFI.
It was a 4 pulse. As both of them are only 2-wire I suspect they are a sine
wave generator or reed type.
How connected: Cable connected to tranny as original and on the other end
the inline which then connected to the transducer. The speedo sensor is
connected on the output side of the cruise transducer instead of the cable
that used to go to speedometer itself.
Too late for picture as I took the stuff apart as sample when I went looking
locally but as soon as I have it back together I'll take some. Should be in
on monday.
The AV-10 Engine Monitor needs a hall-effect type which gets connected to
power and then has a signal lead goint to the AV-10. I ordered a 4 pulse
from United Speedometer. It's their UTE-110-SO. It's 7/8" in and out. I'm
not sure it the connection at the tranny is 7/8" or smaller. If 7/8" then
I'm going to try and put the sensor right at the tranny. If not, the output
side of the cruise transducer is 7/8th.
Confused? I think I confused myself writing it

Hopefully I understood the question and answered it reasonable.
United Speedometer also has a closed one listed (UTE 110-SC)
Judging by a page of their catalog I have they call the Speedometer Sending
Units "Hall effect" and Cruise Control are "Reed Relays" and they also have
combo units. Open (inline) and closed (end-of-wire) are listed.
