Our 455 seems to be taking longer and longer to fire up after having sat
for anything more than over night. I suspect we can fix it by having an
auxiliary fuel pump put in, but could we also fix it by having the Q-jet
overhauled?

Dave,

Just a guess, but one possible cause could be fuel "draining" from the carb
float bowl ( this doesn't have to show up as an external leak ).
I would have it checked out before they install the electric pump and maybe
"cover up" the original problem.

Did you get your Onan fixed?

Maybe I could get that fixed without a full overhaul.

Onan being worked on as I write.

Thanks Tom. I'll have the mechanic check it out.

Dave I have never seen a check in Qjets but someone said the fuel pump has
one to stop bleeding back to tank i use my carb filter and u get 12000 miles
on filter and i could set my watch on this

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll pass it on to my mechanic. I'm pretty sure
he'll be pulling the carb to seal the holes in the float chamber.
