My son purchased a digital camera through the Internet. It is an
AGFA Smile camera. Nothing fancy but the price was right. Go to

It has 640x480 resolution, 2 MB memory which is enough for 16 VGA pictures.
Comes with software, built in flash, etc. Can download to your PC or
can be viewed directly on a TV. This looks to be a relatively
inexpensive unit that should give good quality pictures for use with
e-mails on the net or to keep the pictures on the computer or on
disks. It is not, as others have pointed out, a high enough
resolution to have high quality photos printed out but for its
purpose, such as taking GMC pictures for posting to PhotoPoint or
sending by E-mail it should work fine.
By the way, I don't own a Digital Camera. All my photos on my
PhotoPoint site were taken with my 8 year old Sony 8mm Video Cam.
My Mac's operating system came with several programs such as Apple
DVD Player, Apple CD Player, and Apple Video Player. The Video
Player will accept input from a TV, Video Cam or VCR, S-Video, or
MPEG Movie. With it I can capture a movie to the computer, capture a
picture and freeze frame a picture from a video. I just plug my VCR
or Video Cam into the video inputs in the back of the computer and
play back the tape. When I want to capture a picture I just freeze
frame it on the computer and mouse click a button to capture it. I
can then convert the image to whatever format I want such as JPEG and
size it to the resolution that I want (make the file smaller for
PhotoPoint where I don't need the high resolution) and then use it in
e-mails or for posting to web sites.
For you non-Mac users, there might be some similar programs available
for PCs but I don't know and have no idea what your additional cost
might be to get something like this.
I may buy a Digital Camera some day, but meanwhile this is working
super for me.
If someone comes up with a VCR tape of a bearing installation using
Tom Warner's puller, my program can easily be used to transfer the
tape to a CD that can be played back on either a Mac or a PC
(providing the PC has a video card).
