One of our cockpit seat belt buckles disassembled itself and could not be repaired. Not even temporarily. On our '74 & '75 the GM seat belt buckle
is held together by the plastic bezel around the button. The 40+ yo plastic holds all the movable metal parts and springs in place. When it
disintegrates the parts pop out and the broken bezel cannot be reinstalled. I'm replacing both of ours.
The coach seat belts are a different design.
