Just in case I'd be interested.....
An Olds diesel is a direct bolt-in to my 403 ?? You don't say !
Now, just what kind of torque and horsepower would this have??
And of course, there is the question of mileage. What would a 6
ton diesel get for mileage?
Have you considered doing this conversion yourself ??

If you get a minute, let me know. Thanks.
Mike B.

I've put a Volvo in the back of a VW van and a 6-cyl Volvo in a Benz.
The above is "do-able" . The question is... does one want to do
this?

Mike,

Yes, the diesel is a small block Olds, so is the 403. Mondello has
hop up parts for the diesel. I personally got 200k miles out of one at
which time it was so worn out it was down on power.

Mileage with the diesel is about 50% higher than the 403. Stock
horsepower is 105 vs 200 for the 403. Stock torque is 220 vs 310 for
the 403. That's stock. During a factory test using a tuned port intake
with separate runners, the engine really made a lot of power and mileage
went up another 50%.

I think I'm going to build another Olds diesel and try that. I had
one in my Cadillac before I went to the 403 gas motor. With a very
tired engine, I was getting 26 mpg city/highway averaged out over each
tankful. I have considered doing the conversion myself, not because of
the mileage benefits, but because I like diesel engines.
