About 8 years ago I replaced the roof air on my '77 Kingsley.
Today is was 96* in my driveway. I turned on my roof air, a Duo-Therm unit
and let it run on max for about 20 minutes. My digital thermometer said the
air coming out of the A/C on the roof was 72*.

What are my options to keep cool?

Thanks

Right now its 98 degrees outside my house and I have my house set at 74. It feels very cool inside.

A 24 degree difference for a motorhome air conditioner is actually quite good.

If thats not cool enough for you some options are:

Put more insulation into the roof. Use honeycomb or insulated shades on the windows.

If you are using the original 13,000 but air conditioner that came with the GMC, replace it with a new one. A new 13,000 btu will actually give more cooling as it runs more efficiently and circulates the air better. You could also put in a 15,000 btu one as I did years back. Much cooler.

Also forgot to say if you are parked and have awnings put them out as they shade the windows and the side of the GMC.

I just installed Sunday a Atwood Air Command 15000 BTU heat pump.
Couldn't be happier. Cools the RV down nicely. I will know more in a few days when the temperature gets in the 90's here.
I am also putting a Dometic breeze 2 in the rear. Just started the install. fits nicely about 6" in front of the clearance lights.

Anyone want the old duo-therm 13500 BTU?
Works and has all the parts, thermostat, heat strip new gasket and bolts. Needs one captive nut for the mounting bolt.

Mike,

When I replaced the roof air units on Double Trouble I installed two Brisk Air 13,500 units. The only time we ever used the rear
unit was when we'd stop for the night to pull down the temp quickly and whenever I'd take a shower I'd open the bathroom door and
hook it to the closet side to seal off the bathroom and bedroom from the rest of the coach. I'd dry myself off standing sideways in
between the rear twin beds.

Always start the a/c befor it get to 72 degrees.
Once the inside material gets hot, it take a lot to cool down the furniture
,walls and ceiling.

These units are 100% recirc so the interior temp of the coach will determine how long it takes. Your experience sounds totally normal and within a
couple of hours your coach should be down into the 70's. There is a lot of inertia in all of the contents and shell of the coach. Also humidity will
have A dramatic affect on the cooling performance. i think you are just fine with the amount of draw down.

The other day I was complaining about no cool air.
Today I shut it up tight and pulled the drapes and let it run for about an
hour....Errrr could it be too cold to work in?

Adjusted temp to low cool and all is well...no need for long johns after
all !

If you had just read the temperature in Celsius, you would not have felt anywhere near as hot.

96F = 36C.

Now you're thinking !
I do temps above freezing in Fahrenheit and anything below in Celsius
...I'm lucky to be able to tie my own shoe laces !
