Hi All,
Just wanted to let folks know that GM has a service that can provide you
with a copy of the original GMC dealer invoice for GMCs from 1976 and
up. They are $50.
The Vehicle Invoice Collection is the documentation of the vehicle cost
broken out by model and factory options. It contains the original ship
to dealer information, MSRP and invoice number that General Motors used
to bill the dealer. The collection is archived on microfilm, microfiche,
CD and is organized by VIN number. Vehicle Invoices are printed from
microfilm or microfiche then scanned and emailed as an Adobe PDF for $50
USD. Most requests for copies of dealer vehicle invoices are reproduced
from microfilm and microfiche. Copies of these records may vary in
quality, depending on the condition of the archived record. We will give
you the highest reproduction quality possible from these media sources.
We will notify you if the invoices are not legible or unavailable.
More information is available at http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=1
and ordering instructions are available at

I posted a sample (my Transmode's invoice) at
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/member-galleries/p65264-gmc-original-d
ealer-invoice.html It showed that it was delivered to Phoenix, AZ but
without house A/C (seems very odd for the desert). I 'm thinking they
planned for long trips due to the cruise control, spare tire, engine
compartment lamp, am/fm radio and CB antenna. All are good for long
trips and driver convenience. I imagine they had plans for something
electrical inside if they shelled out $2300 for the 6k Onan, and I
imagine they planned to tow something if they added the trailer wiring
harness.
I sent the copy I received to BDub for inclusion in the registry. If
anyone else gets one, please share - I for one would love to see other
invoices!
