In case anyone is interested, JC Whitney (www.jcwhitney.com) has on p. H-8
of their Sale Book No. 109J-10, a leather wrapped steering wheel. It's
available in gray, burgundy, blue, and black @ $139.95, $20 off the regular
price. It comes with a center cap, which for a GMC says "GMC" across the
middle and the word "TRUCK" in smaller letters below.

This is the Astro minivan style wheel without air bag provision. I have a
similar one on my coach. I like it because the part you grab onto is so
much larger in diameter than the original style wheel.

P. S. I believe Jim Bounds also sells this style, so you may want to check
his price.

Justin:

The catalog description says "automotive-grade leather".

Paul, is that leather like formerly the hide of a cow, or leather like
in
Dupont Plastic?
I wrapped my steering wheel with a genuine leather cover and then after
one
summer driving in our heat with sweaty hands, the thing smelled like a
locker
room. It and the Avacado colored wheel went into the trash.

Paul,
Yes, Jim Bounds does sell a leather bound steering wheel at a price competitive
with the JCW on-sale model. And it's center cap is embroidered only with "GMC"
and no "Truck" lettering. I've used mine for about 7,000 miles now and there
is no odor problem with it yet.
