Since my tired old Onan will need to be replaced soon, I've been looking
and "lurking">.
I've noticed a small Generac unit which would easily provide enought power
for our needs, but cant find enough detailed data. I'ts a Impact Series 36
plus and is rated at 3600 watts @ 30 amps. It's about half the size of the
Onan, weighs only 102 #, and operates at only 66.7 db.
Oh, and it's only $2k.

Any body have any experience with one of these or know where I can find
details?

Thanks,

Ok, granted, I'm just a lurker here and don't yet have my own TZE
coach...though I'm trying.

But I am intrigued by this...I've been following the generator discussion
for quite some time and don't understand why (I'm not saying, I'm asking)
why people who have the guts, gumption, and independence to want a 20 or
more year old coach, made in the good ole US of A, would want to replace the
Onan generator because it's tired?

Is there some reason why they can't be rebuilt? I realize that the parts are
expensive, but they were pretty darned well made, run good, make lotsa
juice, etc. Many of the replacements I'm hearing (most, actually) are light
duty replacements, intended for occasional use

I'm looking for the right GMC and want it to be very near original. The GMC
truck chassis SOB that I have now has an Onan 4KW that I like a lot. Why the
desire to go to something less rugged and/or foriegn built? Somebody 'splain
it to me.

If your going to spend 2k on the 3.6K unit why not go another 500 and
get the 6.5K unit. Go look at this site, http://www.advrv.com/ and
they have info on the generac, honda and onan.
