Helping an owner of a 73. I've never replaced the rear pins/bushings in the 73 or 74. 78. Yes. Rust is minimal except for the pin retainer bolts. Lots of penetrant for 2 days. First bolt twisted off with very little effort. I've been avoiding posting. But I need some ideas to avoid issues with the other 3 bolts. Ken Shafer has built his 73 into an amazing GMC.

Bob,
we take Allen wrench cut off, use a large Ball peen hammer and shock it
with blows to loosen it up .
Also use moderat 3/8 impact and run it back and forward .
If you use our 1 1/4 pins
you do not need to use those keepers as you will be able to use the
optional bracket that tie in both pins.

Good news!  I will call you later today Jim.  I sure wasn't looking forward to drilling and tapping those retainer screw holes.

When I disassembled my 74 bogies, I discovered that the antirotation screws for the pivot pins on the backside of the bogie box had the heads broken
off. (3 of 4)
Upon close inspection, the allen socket in the oversized heads were cut deep enough to actual start to enter the shaft of the screw!! This leaves very
little shaft metal next to the head and almost guarantees that the head will break off when trying to remove them.

Go ahead and brake those screws as we supply the retaining plate on the
front side to prevent rotation.
There is a chance you might have the plate already on the assembly.
