After fussing with the latch for awhile, It turns out that the door closing issue with the door on my '76 Royale eems to be because it is bent inwards about 1/4" between the latch and the bottom of the door. In order to reach the second latch I have to close the door with resolve, since the bottom hits the door jamb first and has to deflect to allow the latch to , well... latch. When I close the door slowly against the jamb and look along the edge from behind there is a noticable 'crescent' of space up to the latch, and a uniform gap above.

I've found several places on the interwebs that show methods bend the door outwards to match middle age spread (which my coach has), but none showing how to bend it inwards, much less just the bottom half. I'm looking for suggestions for that.

Here are some photos of measurements taken by blocking the door a little open and measuring outwards from the jamb to the outside of the door.
