GMCnetters,

Does anyone know a source for the "through-bumper" 2in receiver hitch
used on the GMC? My father has one on his 75 Eleganza II and it looks
like an OEM installation(or a very well done aftermark installation).
Last week we had high temps getting close to 70 here in Atlanta(this
morning we had snow flurries). The daffodils and bradford pears are
blooming and I'm thinking about hitting the road!

Thanx,
Patrick

Since we discussed the subject last week, I found the flyer I had on the
hitch. It's made by gemco Motorhome Products Inc., Box 3029, Ogden UT
84409-1029, 801-479-1580. Their flush with the bumper model is FM 2.
Last price I had was $289.50 plus shpg. As I mentioned to you, Paul
Bennett in Columbia SC, 803-799-4323 should be contacted about one.

Thanks Paul! I'll touch base with both of them.

No joy. Number is disconnected and a net search yields zip.

I get a fast busy on that number. A net search yielded 803-754-1288.
No answer this afternoon. I'll try again tonight.

Last spring at the GMCMI rally there was a notice on the board about a
GMC Centerline Hitch Model FM-2. It was from:
Gemco
Paul Z. Bennett
2400 Blossom St.
Columbia, SC 29205
The price quoted was $289.50 + shipping. Sorry there was not a phone
number listed.
To me it looked like a good unit.

Roger,

Was your impression that he had just one for sale or was he distributing
them?

Dave,

If you don't want to mess up your bumpers and don't mind the reduced
clearance in the rear, I've found two options for under-bumper hitches.
Golby will weld up a hitch to your coach "while-u-wait" for $250. Call
two weeks ahead to schedule so Tom can be sure to have the steel tube
and sheet in stock. Also Ray Curtis stocks a bolt-on for $225 plus
shipping(estimates approx. $40 to the east coast).

Personally, I don't want to loose any clearance on the rear, so I'll
probably need to spring for rechroming the bumpers somewhere down the
line.
