That was my experience also. A company with a good reputation put a new
seal and "O" ring kit in the steering box, adjusted it, and all the play as
gone. Needless to say, most if not all the wander was gone as well. Not gone
completely, but anti-sway bars in the rear got rid of the rest. I took the
steering box to them and waited while it was rebuilt so I would be sure and
get my special-to-GMC steering box back.
A good rebuild of the steering box solved a lot of problems and was well
worth the money.
