I just ordered a new rear seal from Applied, the spline is a different style from 1973 version, I’m assuming the spline goes on the inside like the original, and somehow the “pull ring” escape exit gets fitted to the new spline somehow?
You thread the new spline through the ring so then the ring is sandwiched between it and the seal at the top of the window. Pulling the ring pulls out the spline so you can release the glass.
I really don't care to try, but I bet the rubber in ours is so that would break if you were to pull that ring. That is why window hammer is hanging on the bulkhead.
