Does anyone out there know who still makes rear tracker bars? This is
not the rear sway bars, these mount on the front and rear swings of the
axles and act as guides.

J.R. Wright

I have seen them on the Wallace GMC, advertised for sale, in the GMC
market place magazine. You might want to call that number and get more
details.

It is like a stretch, in an advertisement, for sale by Wallace (they
used to make the famous Wallace Hubs and tracker bars.)
Sorry, I do not have the phone number handy.

Manny
Do these tracker bars use roller bearings for the arm motion?

Manny:

Does not the Accuride device restrain lateral movement of the leading rear
axle swing arm by tying the two together and itself being anchored to the
C-channel frame member????

The Accuride acts as an anti-sway stabilizer. Its a direct link between the
wheel arm assembly and the chassis. The units greatly reduce the sway from
road grooves, passing trucks and wind. A substantial reduction in tire, pin
and bushing wear is also achieved. improves rear sway bar performance and is
easy to install. I paid $250.00 in 1993. At the time Wallace and Clasco
were selling theirs for around $1000.00.

Manny:

Lateral movement is side-to-side. And I agree that it is desirable to
restrain that. Vertical movement would be up and down movement.

Did I understand in your earlier message that you have the design drawing
for the Accuride system that you would make available???? Any plans to do
so????

Paul, if you mean side to side, YES. But you don't want side to side
movement anyway.
If you mean up and down, NO. The bearings follow the channel. But if you
develop cambet problems +/- the control arms will still follow the channel.
You may have a problem with the boggie bushings. As far as toe-in and
toe-out it shouldn't happen.
On the other hand if you mount the kit and have either toe-in or toe-out, it
will not correct it.
I will post or get someone to post.

J.R.,
A word of warning concerning the tracker bars.

I have aligned 2 coaches using the bars and found that the bars were
installed in a fashion that held the swing arms out of alignment. I had to
remove the bars to get the coach in proper alignment, when I reinstalled
the bars after the work, I found that one coach would not accept the bars
without slotting the mounting holes. I modified the brackets and found
that after a test drive the wheels were again held out of alignment by the
bars. The other coach could not be modified enough to reinstall the bars
without major remounting so we left them off.

Some people who have them say they do help the sway somewhat but I found it
a @%&^* to install them properly and keep them in alignment.

Do your homework before using them.

If you want to try a prototype, we have the capacity to produce them in
our shop in virtually any material or weld-type called for. We can
probably do the first one for nothing, or, at most, material cost only.
