Concur. I buy parts from Gateway most of the time, Golby and Cinnebar depending
what they are. But I am going to tell a true story now. When I was rebuilding
the 455 most parts came from Mondellos in Paso Robles (close to me, no mail or ups
and a million dollars of advice, free). The parts that were actually needed for
the GMC were Gateway etc. When I got my hoses for the radiator the top hose was
not the right one. They were not terribly costly but I wanted to return the hose
to Gateway. What a hassle, they wanted the invoice, etc. Well I had them ship
them to the machinist shop in town not to my home. I paid the bill by credit card
as usual. But the BS to get them to take it back was intolerable. I finally just
hung up. Any body need a hose for a 403 set up. I paid 31.00 and would be happy
to let them have the $%^%^^)O#@ Thing if they could use it. Gateway wanted the
invoice etc. etc. etc. I know they had it in their computer but they wanted me to
hunt for it. I am not really as pissed as I sound I just have a very hard time
doing things sometime. I take Prozak, Tegretol, and fifteen other medications to
get by every day. I am not telling you this for sympathy nor do I want you to
take it that way. I just wanted you to know that some of the GMC suppliers just
do not seem to be interested in any thing other than the almighty $$$$. I am
really surprised that some of them have not gotten rid of their 800 numbers and
let us pay for the telephone calls too. My .25 Cents worth of Crap. Chuck

Scott we agree on most things. My only thoughts are along the line of
breakdowns on the road far from my shop. Here I can fix or repair any part
of the coach, and can get any part within a few days. I have the luxury of
comparing prices and quality of parts and can pay the price I feel is
justified. In that respect I am lucky, I have the room and all of the tools
to work on any part of the coach.

On the road all bets are off. These GM suppliers offer us a factory fit and
quality part and a somewhat competitive price. In addion they can get the
part to us over night if necessary. That to me is very very important.

But we have to remember that they are specializing in a very limited market
and have to mark up their parts more to stay in business. Just my 2C.

As for the Alcoas I think we are getting great prices for them. $1150/6
delivered to my door. That is comparable to any other alcoa wheel.

Recently, I got insurance from RV Alliance America. I followed the advice of the
thread on this net and requested Agreed Value coverage. RVAA said okay. I had to have
the coach evaluated and forward a copy to them along with 2 exterior and 2 interior
pictures. They suggested 2 organizations that would do the the evaluation for me. I
could take my pick. They were ADP Auto source and Cinnabar.I called ADP first because
they have an 800 number. When I told them that I wanted an evaluation on a 1975 GMC
motorcoach there was a hesitation on the line. Then I was told that they weren't too
familiar with GMC's and if I brought it to them in Gaithersburg MD (a DC suburb) they
would do the evaluation. My cost would be $87.50 (The insurance co. pay's $87.50
also.) It would be a 140 mile round trip that would probably take half the day. Then I
called Cinnabar on the toll line and talked to Ivan Henderson who is the Manager of
the Sandusky Michigan facility. He told me to send him a letter containing information
on upgrades and replacements along with pictures and he would do the evaluation. The
cost to me and to the insurance co. was ZERO. That's right zip, zilch, nada, nothing.
I told Ivan that he should be charging something and he said maybe some day.
Well, all I can say is it was a pleasure doing business with Ivan and I assured him
that His Company will be first on my list when I need parts or service.

p.s. I could tell that Ivan knows GMC's and that he cares.
