Rear brake drums

Hey netters

I've been servicing the rear bearings here...

I found a circumferencial crack on a crispy critter brake drum near the
outside edge of a drum while repacking the rear wheel bearings (Mobil 1)
trying to find the source of a low frequency noise. Turned out to be a
battered inner wheel bearing on the streetside front bogie.

While taking things apart, the streetside *rear* bogey drum dropped a
bunch of brake parts on the driveway. Looks like there were serious
bearing failure at some time..... anyway, I need a new/used drum & hub
assy.

Any help appreciated.

Ritch, I think two of my drums that I removed when I went to rear discs
may be marginally serviceable. The other two had tossed their weights.
The reason I say marginally serviceable is that the other two are
probably close to tossing theirs too. If you want, you can have the
pick-o-the-litter for the cost of shipping.

Sorry, no used hubs here - I recylced them when I went disc.

Patrick,

Thanks for the offer of the brake drum. I will take both of them off your
hands should you want to get rid of both of them. If not, the pick o' the
litter will be just fine. Mine are certainly marginal to say the least,
and having another one as a spare for the interim will be a very good thing.

One thing - the drums you have has 8 bolts attaching it to the hub, not the
4 bolts as shown in the parts manual? If so, shoot 'em to me ASAP.

I will be gone to NZ from June 23 to July 22. Hopefully they will arrive
in time via UPS ground to allow me to button up that rear axle before
leaving. If not, well, I'll just smear some grease on the spindle & tie a
couple of sturdy plastic bags around the whole thing.
