Thanks for the info that your water pump is running the wrong direction.
Could be a start of destroying another major myth and that is we need the
cast iron water pump impeller or the engine will overheat. I PERSONALLY
THINK THAT IS BUNK!
If the pump runs backwards the radiator will run at greatly reduced
efficiency ie;reversed flow thru the thermostat, reverse water flow thru the
radiator etc. Mondello says the the best way to correct an overheating
condition if everything is in good shape is to cut off some of the stamped
impeller blades thus SLOWING down the flow of water thru the radiator core.
maybe he is right. Aren't you doing very close to the same thing by running
your water pump backwards?
Do you have a temp gauge showing actual temp, and if so has it changed? Time
to start getting info on another myth. Time to come out of lurk Arch and
take charge.
