Q. re vacuum pump location and exposure to moisture

Hi folks.

I mounted the electric vacuum pump in the outside area where the parking
brake is mounted on the inside, i.e. below the parking brake handle.

I'm wondering how fussy I have to be to protect it from moisture in that
area?

Anyone have anything installed in that area? Any moisture problem? (and
remember... I'm from the NorthWest and have the GMC on amphibs part of the
year

That is where I installed my vacuum pump. I think they were made to be in
the elements so I wouldn't worry. I do think you ought to check and see that
the drain hole in the vacuum pump is on the bottom to drain out any
condensation. At least that is what I was told when I installed mine. By
the way, in the 5,000 miles plus, I do not think water gets up that far .

Heinz,
I relocated the horns and installed mine on the flat part of the firewall
ABOVE the emergency brake. Just fits and is out of the rain. Living on the
Oregon Coast we occasionally get a rain shower.
