Hi all

Now that my GMC is running fine again - I needed some
kind of "benchmark" testing to establish a base line
for my coaches performance. I wanted a means to
evaluate future enhancements and a means of checking
my coach periodically.

Now my solution my not be very el agent - but I belive
it will work for me - and in fact if others will
participate - perhaps we can build a database of
performance timings to more accurately gage which
modifications produce the desired performance
improvements.

METHOD
STANDING START - pedal to the floor - record times for

zero - to 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 miles per hour

CONDITIONS
Coach Type ---- '73XPD - 26'
Engine/ yr ---- '73/455
heads ---- "j"
ignition ---- "HEI" (springfield)
initial ---- 10 degrees
advance ---- ported vacuum
Gas ---- 87 octane (true gasoline)
load
gas tnk ---- full
propane ---- 90% full
waste ---- empty
water ---- full
cargo ---- 150lbs tools/supplies ?
A/C ---- off
Engine comp---- 170 psi (approx - all cylinders)
road ---- level
air temp ---- 70 degrees (love Florida weather)
vacuum ----
idle ---- 20" (neutral 850 rpms approx)
50mph ---- 16"
60mph ---- 14"
70mph ---- 12"

RESULTS
0-30 ---- 7 seconds
0-40 ---- 11 seconds
0-50 ---- 18 seconds
0-60 ---- 27 seconds
0-70 ---- 40 seconds

Any one else willing to post there results ?????

Hi Pete,

I printed your data and will use it to compare my results. My old tire
engine is such a dog I don't expect to get anywhere near this but we'll
see.

It may prompt me to get some work done on the carb and distributor.

Nice job! Not everyone will be able to replicate the 70f ambient temp
until spring or summer in some cases!
