I'm not familiar with the RM software or GPS. I've got Delorme Street Atlas
USA and love it. I've also got the Delorme TripMate receiver which does a
pretty good job, but a stand alone receiver with outside antenna(or at least
an active antenna) would do a better job.
I've seen some traffic on the rec.outdoors.rv-travel newsgroup lately that
some of the newer Delorme EarthMate receivers(supposedly just a repacked
TripMate) have been giving some trouble, while others work just fine.
Possibly some QC problems at whoever assembles these for Delorme.
So my vote is go for the Delorme Street Atlas USA software(ver. 7.0 is the
latest) and buy a Garmin reciever which has a serial port and external
antenna connection(I like the GPS II+).
