MY daughter and I were working on various vehicles today we were changing oil on my eXmark zero turn and discovered I did not have an oil filer for it. So we went to the closest auto parts store which is a new O'reilies and they wanted $14.00 for the filter. I walked out of the store and ordered 6 of them for $24 delivered. They will be here Friday from Amazon. That is $4.00 each for the same brand and part number. i hate to see what NAPA is charging.

I needed a new power supply for my lap top. I ordered a new one on Amazon for $13.06 delivered. The next ad below it wanted $65.00 for the same item. It also will be here Friday.

A friend of mine adapted a new Westinghouse 9500 generator to his GMC. Made a platform to mount it on using the original slides. Slick adaptation!

Its worth it for me to pay the extra dollar to get it now and be able to look at the part before I pay for it. I have had several experiences with Amazon and Rock Auto where the part was not right is some way.

NAPA isn't always the most expensive, and they have a lot more of the hard-to-find parts. I worked in the parts biz for 30 years, both as an independent and later as a NAPA store. I competed head to head against O-maggots and AutoZombies for years successfully. Having good parts people and paying them well was key.

I have some questions:

Does it have electric start or just a pull cord?
How is he adapting the tailpipe to get the exhaust away from the body?
How loud is it?

I bought one of these 2 years ago to take with us to national and state forest campgrounds where only inverter generators are allowed. Its pretty quiet and runs everything except of course roof AC and microwave. We can live without that stuff when camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

My daughter worked for a chain of 4 NAPA stores in two states. Their business model was different than the other chains. Their primary customers were local service organizations that worked Monday through Friday until 5 or 6 PM. They even had a contract with the local state prison.

The shop called NAPA and ordered and the part was delivered today for in stock parts, and usually the next day for others. The businesses, other than the state contract, did not care about the sale price because they passed the cost through to the customer. Non or out of stock parts, which was common, were picked up over night from one of their other stores first, or the NAPA warehouse, or bought from the other competing stores in the area and then resold as NAPA supplied. Customers could only return a Warranty part to one of their 4 stores. Parts pricing was different between NAPA stores not in their group of 4. Like I said it was a different business model. . .
 
i have ordered a few items on line from walmart and all of them arrived early (the same or net day.) One time I ordered a $300 vacuum cleaner and it got from the delivery truck. They intermediately sent a replacement.

I live about 450 feet off of the road. The next spring when the snow melted I found the missing package about 1/2 way up my drive on the front lawn.. I called Walmart and asked how to return it. They said KEEP It. We have already written it off. it worked so i gave it to my daughter.

I do not know what Walmart Plus is. i guess I need to look in to it.

Sounds like "Integrated Supply" locations, especially the prison. Or a variance - the IS stores have dedicated personnel that work for NAPA. I was an owner when IS was rolled out - interesting concept that I think worked out well for NAPA. I was involved in a similar system with AutoZone recently, and it was a clusterf&%^...entry-level "kids" trying to run the location - a recipe for disaster. I walked out after a week.

Ken,

Walmart Plus is kind of like Amazon Prime. Pay a yearly membership fee and get free shipping and some other perks, such as the Paramount Plus streaming service etc.
