Aaargh, what next???
While in the process of the new KYB front shocks on, noticed a 2 -1/2 inch
tear on the right boot when the wheels were cranked hard left to facilitate
installing the lower shock nut & washer. How long it's been there is
unknown. The joint is not making any noise yet. I thought about patching
it, (where's all my old inner tubes?) but it probably won't work given
constant flexing. Can't find the inner tubes anyway. Does anyone make
split boots so it can be replaced without taking everything apart? And
what about proper lube? Oh, also, is there a grease fitting for the
intermediate right axle bearing?
The new front shocks are great, but now points out the need for new rears,
sigh. Front tracks just fine until the rears do a barrel roll on road
irregularities. No powered vent this year, what with 4 new shocks & outer
boot. But at least I have the 12 gauge power vent wire snaked up to the
rear vent while awaiting parts.
Thanks a bunch to Roger Umber's Coachmen conversion tips re rear coach
wiring and genset fuel supply differences from true GMC factory coaches
versus Transmodes, Bill Rush's Onan oil filter cross reference, and Phil
Stewart's wiper switch fix.
As always, best regards.
