That stuff is HEAVY. I would be hesitant to put it on top of the highest point on the vehicle.

Why? With the exceptions of the 2 end caps, the roof is all 1 piece of
.063" aircraft aluminum. Leak potential is limited to side drip rails, and
seams on the end caps. And of course, the things that penetrate the cap
like A/C units, fans, plumbing vents, Antennae holes, etc. The end caps
leak around the clearance lamps.

Inside or out? If you are doing the outside, keep in mind that initially
it looks great being jet black. But over time the UV causes the black to
fade and it becomes a dull gray.

As for durability, it is great. Heck you could probably roll the entire
motorhome and not even see a scratch on the roof :-)

I have had Line-x in my PU bed for 14 years and almost 200000 miles. It still looks new and is still jet black. I do not know how it will look over
the the years in white, and what will happen if the seams try to flex.

I highly recommend Line-x as a product. I just do not know about using it on a GMC roof.

Linex is great stuff.
I was planning to do my boat in linex white, but was told by 5+ shops that they would not spray it in white because they have had too many warranty
claims when it turns yellow.

But if you use white or a really light tan, I'll bet the coach will stay cooler and/or have more effective air conditioning. Several years ago, I used my Infrared Thermometer to check the temperature of my three vehicles. The temp of the skin of the white GMC truck was over 20 degrees cooler than that of the dark red Ford truck and 15 degrees cooler than the medium red Explorer!

There is a very good reason that white vehicles are so popular in Oklahoma!

I wouldn't expect doing the roof to seal the windows or side seam. :d Or, even the gutters and cross seams. If I were younger and still climbing on
the roof, I'd certainly consider Line-x.

I agree with Jim Hupy. The roof is one piece acft alum. except like Jim said. I think
you would be better off stripping the roof of everything including the rails. Making
all required repairs. Then reseal correctly. I did mine 3 years ago and have no leaks.
Also did all the windows. Should be good for about 5 years then I'll redo the rails.

That is one complaint I have not heard. I only have experience with my PU truck bed and would do it again if I buy a different PU truck.

Saw a GMC that had the roof done in Line-X or a competing product. Painted the roof the match the body color. From the ground, looked okay. A great
total non-skid surface. GMC was or is owned by Dolph S. A great guy and good member.
The companies that advertise in FMCA magazine want $4K for their roof treatment, just in case you are wondering.

One more tiny bit to consider. Should the inevitable occur, and you develop
a leak under the line-x, how are you going to access it for repairs?
Reason that I brought this up is this. One of the previous owners of
my coach thought it would be a SWELL IDEA (not) to dig the original seam
seal out of the end cap seams and the drip rails without removing the
aluminum extrusions. He then proceeded to fill the gaps with silicone seal
of some kind, and then top coat it with automotive body filler. (Bondo) He
never troweled it smooth, nor did he sand it. He just left it looking like
sour owl crap. Then, as the years rolled by, the bondo did what it does,
crack and shrink. Leaving me with an ungodly mess. I think of him not in a
kind way, every time I address another roof leak. One of these days, I will
remove everything from the roof, sand and grind all traces of that stuff,
remove, straighten, and seal and replace the drip rails, prime the roof
with the appropriate etching primer for aluminum, and repaint the roof. Not
fun, not fun.
So, consider wisely your actions, grasshopper, don't do something the next
owner of your coach might have to deal with.
