GMCers,
I read an old road test by some magazine and if you've ever wondered
what the operating temps were when these thing were new, you might find
the following interesting.
New 1973 26' GMC
Outside Temp: 108 deg., level road
Eng. Temp: 200 - 205
Trans Temp: 200 - 220
Climbing a steep grade in 2nd gear:
Eng. Temp: 235
Trans Temp: 230
Oil Temp: 240 - 275
No info on how steep the grade was although the indication was that
they used 2nd gear to pull it. The gas octane was most likely higher
then too. Interesting!
