Doing monthly checkup on Gmc systems - upon starting Onan generator I
noticed smoke coming from behind starter. I pulled power to system and
checked wires - found two small wires burnt loose. I was unable to see
what they went to - looked in the Onan manual and they look like the
wires to the Alt - on diagram - Alternator I guess.
Removed starter and located short in harness. I will have to remove
flywheel to fix - do I need this to operate. Does it just charge the
onan battery. One wire goes to voltage regulator and the other goes to
start solenoid. Also is there a way to not use the printed board and
just tie in oil pressure for safety.
