Larry, If you have access to a Camping World they will have most of the
parts you will need they sell tune up kits , oil filters , air filters
and even the circuit control boards for the Onan generators. I had about
the same problem with mine. The points were stuck open and my control
circuit board was bad . The board was about $190. The generator would
only stay running as long as I held the starter switch down but once I
put the new board in it ran fine. I hope this info can help you, Brad.
 
Larry did you check and see if you might have got a bad tank of gas and you
have water in it? Try running the Onan from a separate gas supply

Alex has lots of used Onans siting around and may sell
used parts as well a having a good supply of new parts

Jim Bounds has Class 3 Onan Tech and can get parts

My Onan Shop in Naples, FL supports 5 or 6 GMCs and
keeps a lot of stuff in stock. Call info for phone as I am
out of town
