Anybody have any ideas about an Onan 6500 in a '77Palm Beach that will not
start from the inside remote start switch. Starts fine from the switch on
the unit, once running inside light is on and will shut off from inside but
nothing when I try to start from inside ?? runs fine otherwise
Thanks

Mark,
I do not have the manual to a 6500 at home , of course, but the unit uses a
grounding start/stop circuit. Since the stop works, the ground and stop
wires are OK but the start wire is not sending ground to the start terminal
of the board.

My Onan tech. will be in the shop today and I'm sure would be able to field
that question. Give me a call today 1-877-275-4462.

Justin,
Good suggestion, I forgot about that connection.

This would happen on my 6KVA.
Then I would pull out the unit and start it on the external switch mounted
on the circuit board.
When I would push the unit back in and it would start from the remote
switch again .
Checked all the wiring that would flex while pulling the unit in and out.
I contributed intermittent remote switch operation to the electrical
connector near the bottom of the unit that is routed to the remote switch.
Cleaned the electrical connector (there was corrosion on the male and
female pins) and didn't have any trouble since.
My $.02 worth
