Just been thru the horrible task of tuning up my Onan-
BF-Power Drawer 4k Generator. --- With my model the
points are behind a cover that only allows access from
the rear-- no adjustment screw-- but all seems ok now.
I believe it was the 25 year old capacitor (only 200+
hours on the gen set.
Wanted to replace the original spark plug wires -- so
I found that DISCOUNT AUTO part# 8E32 (a 32 inch 8mm
hi-temp silicon plug wire) would do just fine. This
single replacement wire has the right spark plug boot
at BOTH ends. -- I just cut the wire to the desired
lengths (this one wire yields two ONAN plug wires of
the proper length)-- because the wire is a wee bit
thicker than the originals - you can either enlarge
the hole in the coil wire nuts by twisting a screw
driver thru it)- or trim a bit of the outer gray
covering away.
