When I got my coach my 4KW "Power Drawer" did not run. I discovered the seat
was missing from the float (go figure). During my diagnosis I made it
operate normally w/ 116V AC output. After repairs & washing (I hosed it)now
it purrs and outputs 5V AC. I have checked all the simple stuff (I think)
like brushes, freedom of movement, length, the rectifier. I cleaned the
commutator, replaced loose connections, checked running speed, tested the
recepticle, and still only 5V AC. Whatever is wrong is from my cleaning for
the first time in 25 years. What am I missing ??

Hi Jim; Sam Pickens here picksam Washing is bad, very bad.
First I'd run ohm meter form lead at circuit breaker to ground. Should be
open. I use a true RMS Fluke for accuracy. Next, either you use or access
someone to perform hi-pot test. After windings getting wet; one can kinda
house them off and induce heat via dry access air and dry using this process
for around three days or until the hi-pot test says OK. Going from memory
should be around 5K- 15K Ohms. Since I don't like guess work I'd find out
from Onan or a good motor shop (GE & Westinghouse are good).
