Cleaning up some GMC stuff, and I thought I'd pass this along...

You can retro-fit your Onan 6KW genset with an electronic ignition module,
it is Onan part number 160-1376.

I don't know the current cost. I will check tomorrow with Onan of Indiana
and post it. There may also be a new part number. This one is at least 5
years old.

Updated 3-March:

Called Onan of Indiana (219-262-4611): Part number is still good, the
"Magna-Arc" ignition module is available from stock.

The price is $120.90, and they are proud of their parts, hence the price.
Plus, you never have to set your points again. IIRC, you need to re-use your
old points cover, not the new one that comes with the Magna-Arc. I put one
on 5 years ago, (this cost about 25 cents back then) and haven't had a
minutes problem. There was some futzing at the time, but it works great.
