My old Onan has passed the 7,000 hours mark and still runs well enough to
give me a fairly constant 60 hertz and about a 115 vac under load.
I have had to replace the Hobbs hourmeter a few times and decarboned the
heads, etc. I don't change the oil anymore since it leaks so badly-I just
replace it, but I do change the oil and air filters occasionally. I am
waiting for it to die and then will decide what to replace it with.
