But pumps don't last forever, you'll be buying a new one someday. Only cost would be the price difference 120v vs 240v. If you can find one to suit the application, might be tough at that depth.

A 120VAC motor will consume twice the current of a 240 VAC motor for the same HP rating. So not only the motor/pump assembly will need to be changed, but likely the wiring from your electrical panel and down to the pump. That alone could cost more than the pump!

I don't know, that is why I'm asking. I am on well water and need 220v for the pump.

I have installed this Victron Autotransformer. It is not cheap. However, it converts any single phase 120v ac feed into a stable 120/240 volt system, so any portable generator can supply the power. I have (2) Westinghouse i4500DF paired inverter dual fueled generators powering this. This unit also balances both legs. I can run my entire 1,732sf elevated house with 1,375sf garage, storage & shop below during a power outage.
