Congratulations on your maiden voyage. You deserve it after all your hard work.
Just goes to show you how planning and doing things the right way ultimately pay
off.

Consider a phone like Gene or I have that can connect to the internet
anywhere there is a digital signal. Using Eudora, not too much time
taken to get mail.

Mine do the same thing. BUT, if you have the temperature sensor you can set
the temp sensor so that the fan doesn't run, but when t rains the switch
will close the vent. At least it works on mine - providing the batteries
aren't dead.

There is a rain over ride setting in case the rain is slanting away I
guess. I haven't figured out how it works and I have 3 of hem.

One thing I noticed with mine is that evening dew will close the lid and
as soon as it dries it will open. This is annoying at nite when the hood
is opening and closing every 20 minutes or so!

Set yuor Fantastic fan this way to leave open but not blowing (or sucking).
Put the fan switch to O, put the dome switch to OPEN, put the IN/OUT switch to
middle position (neutral). Dome will stay open until it rains, and then open
again when it dries out. Try it !! It works !!

Our fantastic fan doesn't work like that. We found that ours had been left
in exactly that configuration the morning we left for a rally and the night
after a 3" rain. The carpet was soaked! We spent the last few days with
all the windows open trying to dry it all out.

We've found that the fan speed switch needs to be on any speed other than
zero for the rain sensor hatch to work. To keep the fan from running, we
just turn the thermostat to it's hottest position.

I have heard that some have rewired the unit so that it works like
the original ones (like mine) do.
