Oil ages out while still in the unopened can.

I'm wondering if grease has a similar issue. But the thing is. Grease doesn't have so many additives.
I repacked some wheel bearings last night. That hadn't been serviced since new in 1964. I've owned that convertible since 1967. The grease looked good. Recently did the rear wheel bearings in the GMC. Last did them on Dec 5 of 2015. And some of the lighter oils had separated out. And went to the center area between the bearings. I do make sure that the wheel bearing revivors on each side. Are properly filled.

I hope you used a different brand of grease this time...grease should not separate like that unless exposed to abnormal conditions. If you know what
brand and type you used in 2015, let us know so we can avoid it or maybe some should check their stuff if they used it anywhere.

A lot of folks use valve line syntec synthetic grease with molly to grease their Motorhome chassis fittings and the wheel bearings. I found my
grease cartridge of this grease dried out at 1/2 a tube? Really has me stumped the weather is dry here but I didn’t expect this to happen It was
less then a year old? Maybe better to go back to Mobil one grease it gets looser rather then drying out.

Roy,
Quality control at the refinery can vary , so it varies.
I try my best to let mfg people know of problems with their product, might
not make much difference.
When worked for manufactures, we spent lot of time sending feedback on
product issues and it really made a difference.
