Hi Scott
Your computer is finding the speaker phone feature of your modem when it
boots up. Evidently a driver for this feature hasn't been installed or has
been corrupted and since it keeps happening at each boot-up, it isn't
finding a satisfactory driver.
If you have the disks that came with your computer or modem, put them in
the drive and click 'Next'. Direct it to the disk drive and it should find
it or you should be able to select the driver from there.
Or, go to your Control Panel and select 'Add New Hardware'. Tell it you
want to install a 'sound' controller and push the 'Have Disk'
button. Direct it to the disk drive and you should be able to select the
driver from there.
If this doesn't work and you don't need this feature anyhow, you can
disable it by going to the 'control panel' and selecting the 'system'
icon. Then select the 'Device Manager' tab and navigate down to the
'sound' entry. If 'Wave device for Voice Modem' is there, double click on
it to see it's property sheet. At the bottom of the sheet will be a box to
check if you want to disable this feature. Hopefully that will make it
quit looking for it every time it boots up.
I think the little random appearing error box will quit showing up if you
get the above problem taken care of. If it doesn't work, holler and we'll
try something else.
