Let me add some more to this story.

Like Emory, I picked up two of the referenced compressors this morning from
a local salvage yard. When I called them yesterday about one, they quoted
$35. This morning when I stopped, the price jumped to $65????? However,
when I asked for a less corroded compressor, the manager told me to
accompany him into the yard. He had Buick's, Cadillac's, and Oldsmobile's
with the same air compressor. We took one off a Cadillac and he had one in
the store. Sold them both for $50 and said don't bring em back.
Subsequently, he said check them out and bring em back if they don't work.

There are subtle differences among the compressor's I saw. The older models
have an integral Schraeder valve locate on top of the compressor head and a
plug in wiring harness also built into the head. Later models I saw had no
Schraeder valve and the wiring went straight into the head through a
waterproof grommet. I got one of each. The former one matches the wiring
setup in my coach without doing any wiring modifications.

As far as working, it's one thing to jumper power to them to see if the
motor works. However, it's another matter to see if they develop
appropriate pressure. Just because the motor works does not mean the
compressor will produce rated output. Only use with a way to check the
pressure output will tell you that. I believe they should produce pressure
up to around 150 psi +/- 5 psi. In my 78 Royale with Electro Level II, I
normally run 120 psi, to maintain level. Raising the coach higher requires
more, which I have not yet done, so I can't tell you the max psi required.

Also, although the manual tells you how to add air into the Schraeder valve
on the Electro Level II equipped models, I found when I tried that air would
not go in. Schraeder valve corrosion problem????? Bad valve???? I
unscrewed the valve and believe not all of it came out in one piece. Put it
back together, tried more air, but still no luck.

You may have already gotten the information you need on this. I have just
returned from a GMC Classics rally and saw your post.
A compressor from a Cadillac Seville, '78 -85, with the touring suspension
(most had this) has the same compressor that is used with Electrolevel II.
Also the height sensor is the same. I paid $20 each for 2 spare compressors
and $5 each for 4 height sensors. If you go scavenging, I recommend you
test both the sensors and the compressors before you buy them. You can use
either a 12 volt battery or a 12 V power supply to test the sensors. You
will, however, need the battery for the compressor to prove that it is
building pressure (you can use the one on your car). You can use the wiring
diagram to simulate the GMC Mh installation for testing the sensors.
Fred-I posted this a week ago and it agrees exactly with what you have
stated, except my junk yard must be cheaper than yours.
"Yesterday I indicated that the local junkyard had a Delco air pump in a
Cadillac that looked exactly like the picture of the Electro Level II pump
in the GMC service book. I went back today and the owner said that it was
as exact interchange for the GMC motorhome one. I bought one for $10 and
intend to make a 12 volt auxiliary pump to use for pumping up tires, etc.
If you need to replace your pump get one from a late model Cadillac with the
air suspension. Since they are mounted in the engine compartment over the
left front fender, they are really clean. My looks almost new and it pumps
well."
