No more Jasper Engines

Here is a message I received from Jasper which backs what they told me on
the phone yesterday. Attention All netters
Jasper said they are no longer doing the GMC's since there were a few that
needed replacement and the costs for labor were too much compared to a car.
They don't even do the Olds 455 car engines now either. Looks like it's
Caspro, Mondello, Winterfeldt or local shop builts now, guys.

Methinks Jasper's not being totally honest here. I'm sure that warranty
labor costs for motorhome engine replacement are higher than for cars, but
the fact that they've discontinued ALL Olds 455 engines leads me to believe
it's more a factor of low volume. They certainly had room to raise their
price some to cover the warranty expense, but if the number of units going
out the door is too small, the required increase prices you out of the
market. Also, when an engine rebuilder(or any manufacturer for that matter)
starts fussing about warranty costs, makes you wonder...

any more.

it.
