Larry:
In don't believe that there is any "correction box" with the Caspro Power
Drive. In fact Caspro's catalog description says "the speedometer accuracy
is not changed".
A number of GMC's I have convoyed with over the past couple of years that
have the original drive train, are around 4-5 mph slow as shown on their
speedometer vs. actual speed when you measure with a watch like you did.
Now with the 3:42 ring and pinion gear, there is a correction box as you are
already aware of.
You will find that GM has a whole series of gears that vary in the number of
teeth (e. g. you have a 31 tooth one), that can fit into the transmission
speedometer pickup mechanism. The gears are differentiated from one another
by their color. Ask Danny Dunn about that and which gear would help you.

Hey, folks, I'm getting there. Found out why the speedo was working. The
shop
neglected to install the speedo gear. Also, the "correction box" was
downright sloppy on the speedo sleeve assy. and I was getting ATF
leakage.
Went back to the shop to pick up my Samurai and someone was inside
training a
new front counter guy. Explained my dilema, that I needed my damned
gear, and
we went looking for it. It wasn't in the old tranny. It WAS on the guys
bench. Danny Dunn's shop helped me to identify that it was mine (31
tooth).
Now I have speedo + cruise control. At indicated 57 mph, I am going 60
by
stopwatch on flat interstate. RPM = 2900.
To correct the speedo error, where do I correct it? At the 31 tooth gear
or
at the "correction box" that must have come with the Cinnabar
3.42.??????
Also, Rick Staples, when working on the brake proportioning valve from
the
top of the engine, which direction (towards the front or towards the
rear of
the vehicle) do I attempt to slide the switch to "center" it. Make this
simple for me, por favor. Do I slide the switch fore or aft?
(BTW-bleeding
the rear brakes did not "center" the switch, but thanks for the idea.)
