Gene if it were mine I would do two things:
1. check to make sure that you are not overfilling your engine.
2. run a compression check on all of the cylinders, see if they are within
specs
3. Hook a vacuum gauge to a manifold connection and check for correct vacuum.
4. Replace the transmission modulator
If this doesn't work than I would suspect that when they installed the rings
they did not properly align the ring gaps.
