Netters
As you may remember, I was having trouble starting my Onan without jumping
terminals 9 and 5. I found a couple of broken solder traces on the back of
the board and repaired them.
I put the board back in but then the starter went out.
I got the starter fixed locally for $35 but then found that the dern
starter bracket was broken.
I ordered the bracket from Golby's as part of the GMCnet Ragusa buy. I got
tired of waiting for the bracket so went ahead and built my own
yesterday. It works great!
The starter spun the Onan like a top but it wouldn't start!
I went back through all the trouble shooting steps and finally shot some
starter fluid into the crankcase breather tube. It fired! I had to hold
the choke full on while I adjusted the power screw a little and now it
starts and runs fine on it's own. I've got a steady 124 no load volts and
115 volts with both roof air conditioners running. It was surging a little
at first but now that seems to have healed itself.
Thanks to all that offered help and advise during this exercise. Now I
gotta get that $30 bracket shipment stopped in the morning.
Thanks
