This non Subscriber (so far) has just bought a GMC and seems to have a
serious frame rust problem. Rance Baxter in PA, who is an experienced GMC
owner and services supplier, has the coach for repair.

Perhaps Scott and others can assist Blaine with his question?

Dave,

I just heard from Rance today via email and it seems that they went to
jack
up the rear of the coach to check out the bogies and the jack went
through
the frame. Yes, its rusted through. I dont know how bad or extensive it
is
but Rance is suggesting that it be towed to Buskirk Rush in Mich for
frame
replacement.

This to me sounds serious which means expensive....I will call them
tomorrow
and find out.

Does your experience tell you that perhaps just certain parts of the
frame
could be replaced and not the entire frame ? Also, do you know where the

least expensive place is to have this work done ?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Blaine,

This is pretty serious. I personally believe every problem has a solution
it is always a matter of cost. Some sections of the frame are bolt-ons
but you will most likely need new frame rails. Some of the owners on the
GMC Net are reworking frames so I forwarded your note to the Net and they
will respond to you directly.

It might be worth your time to get a subscription to the Net yourself. To
do so, go to:
www.gmcmotorhome.com

and then click on GMC Net. There is no fee and the Net is invaluable for
advice by guys who have "Been There-Done That!"

Good Luck............
